I am trying to get sound coming out from my smart TV to the surround sound but no matter what input I select on the receiver there still no sound, only work if I use fire stick that was plugged in the back of the receiver. Please help.

You really didn't cover the powerful features of the MusicCast application and the MANY music services that it supports, natively! Your video makes it appear as though you are dependent on the phone app (in your case, Spotify) to get and stream the music. What you did NOT mention was that this WXA-50 has a both a ESS Sabre ESS9006 and PCM Burr Brown PCM5101A Digital-to-Analog-Converter (DAC). Finally, you did not mention the THD of 0.003%.

@jonahmatthes --- Do they make receivers that are focused more on video than audio? Do they make audio focused receivers that are surround and not stereo?

Easy way to find studs is use a magnet until it attracts to a drywall screw and put your mount screw directly above or below it at least one inch. Pre drill hole with a drill bit slightly smaller than the tread of the bolt or you can risk blowing out your stud you're trying to attach the bracket too.

What drives me crazy is losing picture quality when i connect my soundbar to my tv via hdmi arc!! How are they related? (My tv is earc and soundbar is arc) could this be the issue? I am connecting via optical and no video quality issue

There is a real reason. My soundbar only supports DOLBY ATMOS. I have a bunch of DTS content that totally does not work on my soundbar. My soundbar sounds good so I am loathe to replace it with one that supports both ATMOS & DTS. So I am trying to find solutions to this conundrum. Any suggestions would be most helpful. My soundbar is a PRISM Ripple which has 2 HDMI inputs, 1 HDMI Out e-Arc, 1 coax input, 1 Optical input. There are no RCA inputs.

I thought the biggest difference in a receiver and amplifiers whether a power amp or an integrated amp or preamp is having an am/fm tuner. I’m editing because I read some of the comments and can’t believe the misstatements. Do an internet search. You have to have an AM / FM tuner in the same chassis to have a receiver.

I just bought Peter Gabriel's new album with Atmos blu ray, and I think the dark mix cd on a panny sc602 mini hifi sounds wider than the Blu-ray directly through an Atmos soundbar. My big concern is if head phones are Dolby Atmos ready, why isn't a stereo hifi system, as there are generally only l+r speakers in headphones anyway. Just seems like a market ploy to push Atmos equipment. I think dts has a very good ambience with Blu-ray sound, and could be just as good for music. A few rear/top speaker effects aren't going to push a lot of consumers to move, when a newer better faster stronger option is always ready to launch, as soon as your system is in place🙃

I've got old speakers mounted in he ceiling. The only connection to them is 2 white cables coming out of the wall with exposed wire. How would I go about connecting these to my new TV/soundbar, or is it even possible?

What you are saying about TrueSound tuning not being available when the era 300's are in a surround setup is kinda true, but if you use TrueSound tuning before you pair them, they remember those settings when you pair them or put them in a surround setup, so the sound distribution is still optimized for the room.

Thanks for the hard work going thru all these systems! Got the Sony soundbar standalone for $400 CAD today from a guy at work. It's def hot, he flips storage units and found it in one completely unopened! Can't believe I got such a wicked deal on a flagship device. I've never owned such a premium unit to deliver sound, cannot WAIT to set it up tonight and see what it can do. Currently waiting for a sale on the cheaper subwoofer to pair with it!

My tv doesnt have hdmi arc, only hdmi 1 and 2. Is it too old for that soundbar equipment?

It's so stupid they got to this point and never thought to utilise their speaker microphones as callibtlration tools, instead of walking around with an "iOS device only" to offload the work. Besides the obviously, it's aloenating for another issue in that it's intentionally limiting functionality of android users behind a paywall that Sonos themselves don't leverage anything from. I'd be much more forgiving if produxts didnt include microphones on their end as a backup plan, but considering at least one does and is capable of doing this very thing, theres not logic nor reason for this move.

If you have the rs5 wireless surrounds with the AN1000, can you use the surround in zone 3 to play music just out of them? Presumably if you can do this, then you could put the wireless surrounds (temporarily) in an adjacent room for music when you're not watching a movie. Will this work?

Your advices helped, thank you so much! Especially the tip with the HDMI reset was worth gold. After a night of completely cut off the power supply, plug off all HDMI cables, then plug them on in right female contacts and the right order. TV HDMI ARC -> amplifier HDMI ARC -> 4K UHD Blu-ray player (to amp) -> Apple TV (to amp). Then power supply on, first the TV, then the amp and then the players. After this, standby on, again first the TV, then the amp and then the players. From this moment on, my hardware works fine again, both, the HDMI CEC control with one remote, and the HDMI ARC. Hardware (Firmware Version): Sony XR-83A80L (Android 10 4.19.75) Sony TA-AN1000 (001.445) Sony UBP-X800M2 (M45.R.0058) Apple TV 4K (tvOS 17.5.1)

Anybody watching this in June of 2024 that can answer this for me... Should I be concerned about mounting this above a gas fireplace? It is completely enclosed but I am unsure what may lie beyond the wall in the chase. I am also worried about drilling into cords or electrical. Any tips?

It would be awesome if you made a video about setting up a soundbar with a PC or Laptop! I had to buy a dockstation with an HDMI so I can use that just to send audio to the JBL BAR 800!But everytime I go watc ha movie I have to change audio windows settings in the Sound Bar to 16bit,96000Khz (instead of the Dolby Atmos for Home Theater) and on Spatial Sound gotta change from Dolby Atmos for HeadPhones to Dolby Atmos for Home Theater,according if Im gonna watch a movie (Home Theater options work if the movie is recorded in Dolby Atmos or Dolby Surround and it will appear on the speaker display),if I want to watch youtube or listen to music I have to change them back to 16 bit... Dolby Atmos for Headphones,or Windows Sonic,or Off,then on the speaker display will appear Multi Channel PCM and Im able to hear it!I guess theres a way,I dont have to change configs everytime I want to watch a video or a movie or play a game!!! For what Ive researched,many people bumped into the same sittuation!!!

@6:30 if you long press MUTE button for 5 secs and volume + next it will disable Smart Mode,and if you press MUTE 5 secs and Bass next it will Turn On or OFF Pure Voice!!! So,there are more ways of tunning the audio without the app ;)

I've got the harman kardon av151 and a philips 43pus6704/12 tv. Both devices got avr. I bought a new hdmi 2.0b cable and connected together. Still no sound. Easylink in philips tv is on, source at reciever tv-arc.. still no sound. I did all the reset tips you gave in this video. What do I do wrong?

Concerning the microphone on/off switch on the back on the ERA 300’s, what are the pros and cons of that switch being on or off in a surround sound setup?

What settings do you have the surround sound set at? It feel like the arc is doing majority of the work The era 300s seem like they’re barely working with surround sound

Great review man! I originally bought a Sennheiser Ambeo Plus with the Sub and it wasn’t reliable at all. Returned both for a Sonos Arc and Sub mini then added two Era 100’s and man, this thing kicks ass! Atmos content and regular 5.1 content sound ridiculously good. I’m a quasi Audiophile and it even sounds great with music and I’m a snob for an old school 2.1 system. This setup just kills it with stereo separation and the Era 100’s add some nice ambient sound effects with music. I can safely say I’m a Sonos fanboy now and plan to add more to my current ecosystem in the future.

Factory Reset seems to have fixed my issue. Apparently Google thought it was a good idea to update WHILE you are setting up the TV instead of after you've set it up. crazy.
